I am a trained researcher in Microbiology and an Adjunct Research Assistant Professor of Medicine at Boston University. I have worked as a research faculty in the vaccine and infectious disease field for several years. My favorite part of my job in academia has always been writing. I have published 12 research articles and one review in peer-reviewed scientific journals. As a Suite101 contributing writer, I intend to expand my interest in writing about science and several other topics.

My main scientific interests include microbiology, vaccines, infectious diseases (classic, tropical and emerging), novel therapies against diseases and the role of the immune system in fighting infection.

I am an avid reader and a lover of both classic and contemporary literature. I like cinema, art, traveling, yoga and exercise. I also like to cook and try different types of cuisines.

I am a member of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) and the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA).

I am a writer for Livestrong.com

I have lived, studied and worked in Italy, the UK and the USA. I was born and raised in Italy and currently live in Dallas, TX with my husband and our young son.
